Domainfest Amsterdam / Holland May 2007

Domain sponsor’s try to set foot into the European and German markets. Therefore, it is high time for a Domainer-Meeting in Europe - named Domain fest.

The name of the hotel was the Hilton which is good, but the hotel lacks a charm for me and that the Hilton normally values cleanliness amongst others this was not the case in the conference room it seemed as if we were in a swimming area with water leaking from floor to floor.

But the event it self and the networking were very good. And I can say that no other event that I can remember from the past where so many thing went wrong in the discussions on these days in Amsterdam. This does not only come from me but others Domainer friends too who were there can confirm this.

A Domain-auction that could not pick up its pace. With well 100 Domain’s on offer only a few were auctioned off and the single high-light was pocker.de, which changed owners for 695.000 EURO. And last but least the casino in Wiesbaden which I asked: Which casino would give up a good Domain ? Ok , thank goodness you do not have to understand the old economy.

Plus, I think the auctioning off of poker.de saved the whole auction, that otherwise would have ended in a disaster Even though the company Nicit, that ran the auction tried really hard to auction ala Traffic-Conference. And furthermore, the starting prices were too high for the Domain’s.
